Seats for Guy Fieri’s XP 1000 Build and 11 of His Closest Friends

The mockup for Guy Fieri's XP 1000 Seats.
The mockup for Guy Fieri’s XP 1000 Seats.

We first heard about Guy Fieri’s build from Joey D. at UTVunderground in February. It was pretty simple at first. He just told us there was a build in the works and he needed 4 seats for a RZR XP 1000. It would be unveiled at Dune Fest 2014. We didn’t hear anything for a while until Joey got the word in June that his XP 1000 would be black and yellow. So we mocked a GT S.E. seat up and sent it off for approval. Knowing Guy likes the classic cars we went with our Daytona Black for most of the body and added Ferrari Yellow highlights and a Black Suede center for that premium look. We talked about embroidering some sunglasses on the back of the headrest but Guy wanted his Knuckle Sandwich logo. We even considered delivering the seats with those wigs you see that look like Guy’s hair and wearing a visor. Decided against it… probably best.

CGYS motorsports team #26:
Duane Garretson/ Matt Allen Took 2nd place in the Sportsman class this past weekend in Attica, IN @ round 1 of the WE Rock Eastern Series

CGYS motorsports team #26:
Drake Garretson/Duane Garretson take 1st place in the Mod-Stock class this past weekend in Attica, IN @ round 1 or the WE Rock Eastern series.

Well, we are 1/2 way home and it’s been a long weekend… We started off Friday morning with 9 holes of golf and relaxed. About 6:30 we all convoyed to the town parade in Attica, IN. There were lots of people, kids, autographs, monster trucks, buggies, ultra 4 cars and also Rockcrawlers.

We were the only Mod Stock rig so my son drive and I spotted in that class. Just for seat time marketing partner exposure and fun… In the Sportsman class I drove and my main man(spotter) Matt Allen was outside directing me. There were 7 of us in the Sportsman Class (biggest class of the weekend). The rigs were all sitting on 37″-42″ tires and we were on our little 35’s. Our work was cut out for us from the start, but we looked forward to the challenge.

On Saturday we started off ok, but got better as the day went on. We finished Saturday in second pts by 2 pts. We know we could win it, but would have to be on our game. We started off on our 1st course Sunday taking a controversial call. We were pissed, but it was done so we just kept our cool and continued on. On our second course we smashed it and took the lead. On course 3 we took another cone, but held out lead. Moving onto the 4th and last course of the day we took another controversial cone and fell back into 2nd place for the weekend. We were very upset, but these judges get 15 minutes of training and are not getting paid. Anyway… Long story short… We stuck with the top dog all weekend, but came up 5 pts (1/2 a cone, or 5 backups) short of 1st place. We were the only team with 35″ tires so we embarrassed plenty of other teams, but were very disappointed with the overall outcome. A second place podium in a National event should please us, but we shoulda won it so were taking it rough. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. Good news is that we kept our season long streak of podium finishes going… 🙂

UTVguide’s Kawasaki Teryx Takes on Rally on the Rocks

Well, that was fun…

UTV Guide's GT S.E. Seats
GT S.E. Seats designed for UTV Guides 2014 Teryx Build

Rally on the Rocks is one of the largest UTV focused rallies in the country. With trails for every experience level, Moab offers beautiful scenery no matter where you go. This year, Jon Crowley from UTVGuide.net took in that scenery from his newly tricked out Kawasaki Teryx. He said he was going for all of the best aftermarket accessories. With us, flattery will get you everywhere so we supplied a set of GT S.E. suspension seats as well as our 5.3×2 Harnesses to keep him comfortable and safe.

Steve Wheels Post race Report, April

Okay so this past weekend 4/05/14 was the second Lucas Oil Regional race of the season. I have officially been moved from the lone Pilot into the Unlimited UTV class, which runs Production1000’s/Unlimited’s. Well in the heat race for qualifying I had a slight miss hap with the dirt wall out of turn one. End result was bent steering shaft, nothing some tiedowns couldn’t fix. In the main I again started dead last with a total of 22 car between both classes. By race end I had managed to pass 8 of 18 Production1000’s, but stayed in 4th in my class. So no podium this race I am sorry to everyone! The car is an absolute rocket out of the corners but still not enough on the straights. Although I did manage to have lap times 3 complete seconds faster than my fastest time there before. All in all I was in the car and racing, so still on cloud nine.

Thank you again!!!!

Brian Bush and Lonestar Racing Tackle KOH

A King of the Hammers (KOH) recap from Lonestar Racing:

It’s safe to say this was not Lonestar’s first rodeo. Brian Bush in the 1911 XP900 has raced the Hammers for the past 4 years. Team mate Branden Sims in the 1913 XP1000 3 times. Brian started working on his 2014 plan while driving down Boone road after the 2013 race. Brian lives to race KOH and they have a special love/hate relationship. UTVUnderground.com and film crew seen here interviewing Sims after crushing qualifying.

The Pro UTV class got to qualify this year. The new structure was a welcome addition. The UTVs would start one at time to conquer the 2.5 mile course. The night before qualifying Bush and I discussed the format and the fact that 2 cars will be on the track at the same time. The second car would not be released unit the first car hit the half-way point. Bush would face his biggest concern during his run. Flying through the desert section up the wash and around the water fall. Approaching the rock section Brian noticed a trail plug (broken rig) in the rocks. He quickly shot around the obstacle and back onto the course. Dave Cole would stop him at the top of KING mountain and hold him for 30 seconds. Even with the mishap Bush qualified 5th. Sims in his brand new XP1000 qualified 1st. He set a blistering pace. His all or nothing driving style worked in his favor today. Sims would be the only competitor all day to make a pass on the qualifying course. The LSR team was very happy with their results. Going into race day with 2 cars in the top five is a great way to start.

All the knuckle busting and long nights preparing come down to this… Race Day…
