One month three events

Gaining points and getting seat time is helping the team progress

Derek has had a busy start to the season traveling all over the country.  Here is a recap of the past 3 events that Derek and team attended.

(May 9th)At the Ultra4 Metalcloake Stampede in Folsom, CA Derek was struggling to figure out the car and the track conditions and rolled in each of the two practice sessions.  For the first race Derek took it easy and ran a conservative race placing second for a guaranteed start in the main.  In the main Derek and the #20 car started on the third row, the flag dropped and he gained two positions out of the first corner, the Sho-Me Speed/Edelbrock powered LS-3 is really working well.  Derek held third place for most of the race until he caught lap traffic and made mistake that cost him a podium finish.  “Wayland Campbell had caught up to me while we were battling some lap traffic.  Going into the second to last corner I went high as I thought that is the line he wanted but he shot to my inside instead.  I cut underneath him and passed him back on the straight away but then realized I was on the outside again and with the lap traffic I could not hold the pass going into the last corner.  It was a learning experience and I came away stronger for the next race”, said Derek.  Derek placed 4th overall and is currently in 3rd place in the Ultra 4 National series.

(May 23rd) Derek and family attended the 15th annual Madness in May event in Cass, AR where Derek put his new car to the mud test with some wet conditions.  “It was great to get out here and put the new car through the water and see how things hold up”, said Derek.  After 4 courses Derek came out as the overall winner for the second year in a row.

(June 6th)This past weekend Derek attended the 2nd annual Unlimited Off-Road Expo in Louisville, KY where he had 2 race cars on display.  One in the Northstar Battery booth indoors and the other in the Nitto Tire outdoor display.  Derek also raced in the event demonstration all three days of the event.
