Derek West takes 5th at Glen Helen, retains 1st in Series
Top 5 finishes in every race so far this year
The Jimmy’s racing team had a rough start when the front drive shaft flew out at a speed close to 100 mph on the back stretch. The damage included a crushed exhaust system which would have to be fixed. The team rushed to replace the drive shaft and fix the exhaust to get on the track for qualifying. With just a few minutes to spare the team had the car fixed and Derek was on the track and qualified in the fifth spot. In the first heat Derek started 3rd and was looking great until a sensor wire came loose from the engine, which then wrapped around the drive shaft and took the lower engine harness wiring with it. Again, the #20 car was towed back into the pits to be repaired. This put the team in the last chance qualifier race (LCQ) fighting for a chance to make the main race. Starting 3rd in this heat as well Derek quickly made it to the front only to have some more problems forcing him to make a quick pit stop. Once the issue was addressed Derek was back on track and pushing hard to catch up as the entire field had passed by. Derek managed his way back up to the front of the pack to finish 3rd which would advance him to the main race.

Sara Price Wins at TerraCross and Podiums in Lucas Oil Regional Series
On June 26th and June 27th the Terracross Championship Series came to a start at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for rounds 1 and 2 of a 6 race series in 2015. Price, driving the IMG Motorsports, Optimas Powersports, ITP Wheels and Tires backed 1000cc Side X Side, Sweeps the Pro Women’s Class both days of finals and heats, leaving her with the win and current Terracross points leader. Price, driving flawlessly, says “I was so excited to get the opportunity to race on such a tight track, with all cars being stock and identical it made for some fun racing! It was slick with big jumps, so the key was to stay smooth and keep your traction!”
Rounds 1 & 2 of Terracross will air on CBS Sports Network (Round 1: Sunday, July 19th 6pm EST; Round 2: Sunday July 26th 6pm EST). Next Rounds 3 & 4 will be held at HayDays in North Branch, MN on September 12th and 13th; followed by Charlotte Motor Speedway for Rounds 5 & 6 on September 25th and 26th.
Back-to-Back Series and Rounds were held on June 28th and 29th; after Terracross Price then headed straight to Glen Helen Raceway for Rounds 4 & 5 of the Lucas Oil Regional Series. Price driving her Toyota of Escondido, IMG Motorsports, ITP Wheels and Tires Backed 900cc Side X Side was ready to race to the top spot once again! On Saturday Round 4, Price qualified 3rd; leaving her to start on the second row for the main. She drove a very solid race, but while battling for 2nd place, on the last lap, was hindered by her car over-heating and going into limp-mode, but Price aided her car the best she could to the checkered still finishing 3rd on the Podium.
Sunday’s Round 5, Price had her car fixed and felt great when she hit the track qualifying 2nd leaving her to start the main on the Poll. Price battling for the top spot was back and forth from 1st to 3rd all the way to the last corner doing all she could to get the No. 1 spot, but ended 2nd.
“It was an awesome race all the way to the checkered, said Price, pushing as hard as I could, focusing on keeping my momentum. This is the kind of racing I absolutely love when you’re dicing to the very last foot to the finish.”
Price now sits 3rd in the 900cc Class in Lucas Oil Regionals. Sara’s next race is scheduled to be on July 4th at Willow Springs Raceway, her first time ever to race street course in Toyota/Scion of Escondido in the Crawford Race edition FR-S.

Steve Bucaro’s Race Report From the Lucas Oil Regionals SoCal
The Lucas Oil Regionals So Cal were held June 27th and 28th in Glen Helen, CA. Steve Bucaro started the weekend pitted up front with Black Rhino/RacerX on Friday afternoon. By Saturday the team was all prepped and ready for a great two day weekend. Running the unlimited UTV class had Steve running with a couple of different classes in the same race. Heat one was great for a lap and a half until Steve was taken out by a trophy kart; ending his race quickly, but not his day. He was able to throw down an 8th place start for the Main. With a ton of family and friends the team was able to fix the pilot and go for the Main. Once again Steve ended up on his lid in the Main (neither of which were his fault) finishing a 5th overall Saturday. As for Sunday, they were on a mission and not looking to end up on the lid again. Steve was able to get down to a 56 second lap time and a 5th place starting position once again. In the Main, Steve had some pretty good battles with people in his class and other classes but still “had a blast and was fastest I’ve ever been!” Steve stated. “I did manage to get ‘hard charger award’ for the weekend after rolling in both heat and Main on Saturday! Thank you to all my family, friends, sponsors and fellow racers for the amazing continued support!” Steve Bucaro is sponsored by; Black Rhino/RacerX, M-4LEDS, Royal Purple, NGK, K&N, Petro Lock, GBC, PRP, DJ Safety, Works Performance, F-WORD Industries, Farr Off-road, OFF, Wheelie Medical, Crown Performance, Optima Battery, Jet Chip, Arden Performance, Tony’s Tires, Area 51 Fab and Franklin Smith!
Final Tooele Bittersweet For Brian Deegan
The final race for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah was bittersweet for Brian Deegan. Miller Motorsports Park will be ceasing operations in October of this year. Unless a new lessee comes forward to take over the track, it might have been the final race there for the Lucas Oil Series. WORCS Round 1 Taft, CA
Round 1 did not have a powder puff class formed yet.
WORCS Round 2 Primm, NV ( February 6th)
This was technically the 2nd round of the WORCS Race season but the powderpuff did not race the first round in Taft, CA Jan. 17th. This was an awesome way to start out the season. I raced in the GMH Motorsports Pit RZR with my co-dog Shelby Anderson. There were 17 girls total in this race. Came out 4th in the first turn after the start. Was able to move my way up to 2nd place on the short course TORC track behind Savanna Brooks. Her and I were neck in neck for the majority of the race and having a great battle. Half way through the race I passed her in the last turn of the TORC track and moved into first place. From then on out I held my position and podiumed with 1st place finish! Danielle Weatherly Lucas Oil Regional mid season recap.
Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Regional Series Southern California.
Round 1: This was my very first Lucas Oil Regional Race so I was a little nervous. I qualified 3rd out of 11 people so I was pretty excited about that. I started on the pole, was doing great and holding position for the first lap and then got passed by Kayla Smith and Tommy Scranton. I was able to hold my 3rd place position for the rest of the race. The guy in 4th was trying to make moves but was unable to pass me and ended up breaking down. We had out a gap between us and the rest of the cars so when that happened I was able to relax a bit and finish out with a 3rd place podium. Continue reading “Daisy Duke Of Off Road Racing”
Danielle Weatherly – Cedar City, Utah WORCS
Heading out to Utah, myself and the GMH Motorsports crew were a little nervous because of the weather report…. thunderstorms, rain and snow! Friday’s weather was crazy! There was rain, wind, hail, mud, and more mud. We were debating on whether or not to go out for practice because we did not want the race car to get covered in mud and cause a problem for race day with the electrical wiring or anything of the sort. We decided on taking the pit rzr out together, Mike in the driver’s seat, me in the passenger. It was a mud bath! Everything on us and the rzr was covered in thick mud! So to say the least I was now even more nervous for Saturday’s race. Continue reading “Danielle Weatherly – Cedar City, Utah WORCS”
