Best in the Desert president, Casey Folks announced that this was going to be one tough race to finish and for rookie stand out Joshua Cobb it marked the low point of his season. The KC HiLiTES car shot out of the gate and by the 15 mile nark had put a few minutes on the field. Running at 80% the team was cruising along until a rock in heavy dust made a mess of a rear tire. “It was totally my fault,” said Jason Cobb. “We had caught a TrophyLite and a class 3000 truck and I was trying to pass them both when I hit the rock in the dust. Everything started to go downhill from there”, he finished. Losing the engine by Pit#3 was the straw that broke the teams back and sent them home.

“This was a huge setback for our team,” said Joshua Cobb. “It is very frustrating because we had a new car. We replaced almost everything during the prep and we felt like this would be the best car we had all year. Instead, we will leave here losing the points lead and licking our wounds. No doubt this one hurts and we will have to bring our ‘A’ game to the rest of the races. We are going to need some help as well if we want to bring this championship home, I feel really bad for our sponsors and team as they gave us the best to finish first,” he added.

Next up for the young team is the Best in the Desert, Blue Water Challenge in Parker, AZ in early October. Mile for mile it is the roughest race of the year and the unique 2 day race format makes it a crowd favorite.
